So, a little bit of introduction.

A project I am working on requires an asterisk server. In the hobbyist world, this usually means setting up a virtual machine or a beige box with one of several custom linux distributions that claim to do most of the heavy lifting for you.

Today, I read some old journal entries. I started flipping through a notebook that I had bought on a whim, thinking that just having the thing would encourage me to write. Of course it did not, except when I found that I had to entertain myself for a few minutes, or else when I forced myself to justify the investment by hurriedly writing a few meaningless sentences about what I was doing, or wishing I was doing, or whatever.

Okay, this probably belongs over on crdc, but until I get that back and functioning, I guess this will have to do.

Folks, this has been a crazy few weeks.

So, several weeks ago, _why vanished off of the internet. While I met him only once, I sincerely liked the guy, and his leaving had a pretty significant impact on me. I’m still not sure how to make heads or tails of it, and I’m still not sure how to react. I’m sad and angry all at once. He owed me nothing, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to hear something, anything, from a man who publicly remarked that he wanted to, “raise me from birth.” He is an amazing person, and I think that our computing goals are similar.

Okay, so the blog I am using for nvr.frgt.me is called scanty, which is written on top of sinatra, which is a classy DSL for ruby RESTful services. Buzzwords out of the way, let me show you a little bit of syntax which will work with patch I have been working on for my favorite tiny web DSL:

Well, it looks like my internet life is going to have to start over again with only a few things having survived. I have resurrected a few things that I was able to find lying around on my hard drive, but you know how that goes. I guess this is all evidence of the importance of performing regular backups.

Well, it looks like everything is really gone forever. I will now set about recreating my online presence. I guess I should be flattered that they are worried about what I might do.
